Paul Wheeler is a Software Engineer now and then and a pretty good one, but first and foremost he is an adventurer and an intrepid soul. He enjoys traveling, surfing, sailing, rock climbing, hiking, and cycling. He currently sort of lives in Berkeley, CA, but is moving around a lot.
Raised in Catonsville, MD, Paul was an east coast kid, but after graduating college in Rochester, NY he struck out for the west. He and his wife Jen settled in Seattle for some time where he worked to develop his career as a Software Engineer, first at Microsoft, and then in the startup world at Judy’s Book and Positronic. The acquisition of Positronic by silicon valley stalwart eBay brought Paul and Jen to the San Francisco Bay Area. There they took up surfing and sailing, as well as a number of other hobbies. It wasn’t long before Paul tired of his lackluster “career,” sharecropping for a vision-less dinosaur of the previous decade’s technology boom. However, instead of casting his lot again with another round of startups, they went adventuring, and are adventuring still.
Come, my friends.
‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
the sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
-“Ulysses.” Alfred, Lord Tennyson (56-61)
